The British cigarette manufacturer Imperial Brands (until February 2016 Imperial Tobacco Group) is full owner of the German company Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken GmbH. By purchasing this company, the corporation nearly doubled its size.

In 2008, the group aquired the Spanish cigar manufacturer Altadis to become one of the five lagrest cigarette companies in the world.

Today, Imperial Brands is No. 6 of the world’s largest cigarette corporations, holds a 5 % market share in the world and leads the markets in Slovenia, Iraq, Madagascar, and some other countries.

The German subsidiary Reemtsma owns facilities in Hamburg, Langenhagen, and Trossingen and hold a market share of 25 % in Germany.
