Factsheet Children have a Right to a Tobacco-free World

This factsheet shows on six pages how sustainable development, children’s rights and tobacco control are linked to eachother. Concerning tobacco use, the child’s right to health is in the center. We use the example of Germany to illustrate the lack of protection against the tobacco industry. The debate about child labour in tobacco production is focused on the child’s right to be protected from exploitation. The example of Simbabwe shows that voluntary commitments of tobacco companies do not prevent exploitative child labour.

This paper also indicates tobacco control and other measures to enforce children’s rights and further sustainable development – in the way to a tobacco-free world.
